Bridge to Present
- What did you find interesting about the history of the Sisters of Notre Dame? (If you were absent that day, please look over the slides on Schoology)
I found a lot of the information about the Sisters of Notre Dame to be interesting. For starters. St. Julie Billiart is someone that our school talks about and prays to daily. I have learned about her and her influence and founding of our school many times, but every time it is still very interesting. I think St. Julie is probably one of my favorite saints. Not only do I know her whole life story like the back of my hand, but she founded the school I attend, my school. She is the reason I get the education I do. She started a program out of her faith, and that is so admirable.
- What is something that you heard from the Alumnae Panel that stuck with you and why?
When the Alumnae came to talk to us, I was expecting it to be boring and uninteresting. However, I was proven wrong. My mom is an alum from Notre Dame and went to school at the same as Coach Christina. The stories Christina told were really funny and gave Notre Dame good character and reflected its strong values. Some of the things that stuck with me were about the sisterhood. The family that all of the speakers had described both when they were students at Notre Dame, and after they left. I want to have that experience as well, and I think I am pretty close to it.
This is the logo of our school. It represents community and dedication to sisterhood and education. “School Directory.” Sisters of Notre Dame De Namur, www.snddenca.org/what-we-do/educate/page_schoolslisting/.
- What does it mean to you to be a part of the Notre Dame Community?
To me, being a part of the Notre Dame Community is so special. I feel like everyone from within it congratulates me, they recognize my success, they help me through my failures, and they never fail to put a smile on my face. Being at Notre Dame makes me happy. I would not want to go to school anywhere else. The feeling of home is always present here. The NDB Community is one of the mots supporting, special, and family like communities I have ever experienced. I hope these feelings can continue on, even after I graduate.
- When you leave Notre Dame High School, what do you think are some values that will stay with you?
When I leave Notre, the main thing I will remember most is the community. Not just my tight knit group of friends, but my classmates, my teachers, staff, and the love and support I had gained from each one of them. I will remember the happy memories and the sad ones. The good times and the bad. I want to remember Aquacades, and losing for two years straight. I also want to remember my teammates, on basketball, cross country, and track and field. I want to remember my coaches, who always have my best interest in their minds and always protect my trust. I want to remember this community. I want to remember what it was like here, both good and bad.
