BLOG POST NUMBER 1

This picture represents the family of Jesus, something I was able to learn more about.

What are some new things that you learned about Jesus from your own group presentation? 

Through this project, I feel as though I learned more about Jesus’ family relations. I also learned more about one, specific man in Jesus’ life that showed his immense affection and love for Jesus through his actions. This man, Joseph of Arimathea, was Mary’s Uncle, he was also Jesus’ Great Uncle. Knowing that Jesus was a loving man that showed his love for everyone through works of prophecy, kindness, and through God, it was hard to imagine Jesus as anything else. Jesus was so many names, yet only one person. He would be referred to as a savior, a king, a prophet; yet Jesus was always one thing: himself. 

What are some new things that you learned about Jesus from your classmates’ group presentations?

Some new things that I learned about Jesus was more about his history. The miracles he worked, facts about his life, facts about his death, and more. At a wedding, Jesus turned water into wine and filled baskets with multiple fish and bread loaves. Jesus was a miracle-worker. Jesus also has stories about when he was first born, such as how Kind Herod hated him yet the three wise men praised him. Jealously and love seemed to be common feelings at the time of Jesus' birth. 

Which topic relating to Jesus' life did you find to be the most fascinating and why?

  

In my personal opinion, I enjoyed listening to presentation about the three wise men. I found it interesting how three kings would go on such a vast journey to praise a young baby. However, deeper into the presentation, it was explained how each king represented one of three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These wise men didn't necessarily praise Jesus, the person, but the message his birth carried: God had sent a savior. Jesus brought religious lessons and love to the people of God. This was very interesting to learn about, something I hadn't really known before. 

After reflecting on Jesus' characteristics in the last unit and the events related to his life in this unit, who are two people in your life who display similar qualities as Jesus and why?

Two people in my life that remind me of Jesus and the way he treated others would include my mom and my brother. My mom is always willing to lend a helping hand to any of her friends when they are having a problem or just need a shoulder to cry on. My mom shows a kindness that makes you smile and feel good. My brother is younger than me and has a pretty interesting life so far... He has gone to school with other kids years older than him, yet he still manages to be the center point hiding his class together. My brother shows friendship through humor and education, sharing what he can with those who need it most. Both my mom and brother are like Jesus because of the kindness they share and the risks they take for the favor of others. 

This just represents the love of all; Jesus, and everyone else He has influenced to be kind and loving.
