Growth

  1. Which event that you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why?

I found the missions in America to be really interesting. I learned about Junipero Serra, and how he founded eight of the missions in California. I have visited and learned about California missions before this class, but it was interesting to learn more about them, their purpose, and their founder. I also enjoyed learning more about the Vatican Council II and the Council of Trent. I thought it was interesting how the church could gather a lot of people to discuss important changes and issues and how effective a council like this really was. Most of the things my classmates presented were things I didn't know, which made this project more interesting and useful.

This is Junipero Serra, the founder of 8 missions in California.

  1. Which person whom you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why?

I found Pope Francis to be the most interesting. When researching who he was and when he was born, I had found a lot of information that makes him very unique and unlike all of the popes before him. First, his name is not a repeat. He is the first pope to come from not only America, but from the southern hemisphere in Argentina. He is also a pope that wants to live like the rest of us. He uses simple items and not anything fancy or expensive. He is the people's pope, and is like us in many ways.

  1. If you end up being known as an influential figure in history, what do you want to be remembered for?

If I become famous, I would probably want to be remembered as a good, happy person. I want to be happy in life, and only do things that benefit me or anyone else around me. I do not want to hurt people or myself, so I would want to be remember as a great friend. Someone who is caring, kind, and always there to have someone's back, especially if they don't even have their own. I want to be remembered as someone who was willing to fall on the sword or take the challenging path. I want to be remembered as someone who earns all my honor. I want to be remembered as someone who worked really hard, and had that hard work pay off.
This is a cartoon of happiness, something I want to be remembered for.

  1. How have you personally experienced growth (either mentally, emotionally or spiritually) after your own challenges in life?

I have experienced growth in many ways; physically (obviously), mentally, and emotionally. One recent example of mental growth occurred in a track meet. Last year, I totally bombed my first race and lost when I was set to win. It was terrible and I felt horrible. However, when it came to my second race, I wasn't able to just shake it off and move on to the next thing, which made me fail that race also. That was horrible. This year, however, when I messed up my first event, I was able to shake it off and just set my mind to the next thing, making my mental strength grow and feel more powerful.
