Discipleship
What did you learn about the original disciples from the group projects?
From the group projects, I was able to learn a lot about all of the students of Jesus, the disciples. The original disciples started off as ordinary people. After following Jesus' teachings and becoming his Apostles, they were called by Jesus to become his disciples. Most of the disciples were related, either to each other and some said to be relating to Jesus. The disciples were Jesus' students. They followed in his footsteps and continued to learn his ways so that they could then teach others.
Which disciple did you find most interesting and why?
I found Judas to be the most interesting. Judas was the disciple that betrayed Jesus. Judas
told the people that were trying to kill Jesus where he was going to be. Jesus knew one of his
disciples was going to betray him, however. After Jesus was captured he was taken to be
crucified. Judas felt so much guilt after betraying his leader for just a little bit of silver and
hung himself. I find this story to be incredibly interesting because even though what Judas
did was bad, it still was a apart of God's whole plan. If Judas had not betrayed Jesus, then
Jesus would not have died, therefore not saving all of (God's people) from sin.

This picture depicts Jesus speaking to the disciples. I feel as though this picture really represents the teacher that Jesus was, and how his students, the disciples, were curious and ready to learn at all times. (Labeled for noncommercial reuse).
Based on what you learned, what are the characteristics of people who follow Christ?
From what I have learned, the disciples had many characteristics, both positive and negative, that made them so important in the Bible. For example, most of the disciples needed to be brave. By being brave and realizing they were following Jesus, the man thought be a crazy criminal, they were automatically considered very brave. Also, they needed to be loyal and kind. They were loyal to Jesus, and kind to others, for God wishes us to be kind. The disciples also needed to be curious, in order to ask Jesus so many questions and learn more about their faith.
Do you feel that you display any of these characteristics? Why or why not?
I feel as though I display some of the characteristics similar to those of the disciples. For example, I am a very curious person. I like to ask questions of about things and people. I like to learn and understand more about, well, everything. Also, I like to think of myself as brave. I face a lot of unknown situations and difficult things with determination and aim for success. I am also very loyal. I am loyal to my family, my pets, and my friends, but also to myself. I do not easily give in to peer pressure and stay loyal to myself, my beliefs, opinions, and values.
