Prayer

What are new things that you learned about prayer from this unit? Be specific.
I learned many new things about prayer from this unit. The main thing I learned was that there are many types of prayer. Some ideas of prayer include self reflection, meditation, and praying verbally in a group, like Mass. Another specific type of prayer we learned about was Lectio Divine. This prayer is reflecting on Bible passages. Another type of prayer is thinking and sharing what you are both grateful and thankful for in your life.

Can you see yourself implementing any new prayer practices?
After learning about all new types of prayers, it made my view on being more prayer-active switch. I used to not like praying or even the idea of it, but after learning that there are more ways to do a simple prayer, my mind has changed. I can see myself definitely taking some time to do a small meditation in my day sometimes. Also, sometimes I can reflect on all the things I am grateful for. I like how we studied extremely different types of pray because it gives variations and different ways to show you love for God. I will definitely try some of these styles on my own.

What were the main messages you got from the movie The Case for Christ?
One of the main messages I got from the movie would be faith. The movie made me realize how true God is. People may not believe, but even the facts in historical documents prove that not only did Jesus live, he was resurrected too. The movie taught me that God is there when I truly need him most. From the movie, I was able to better understand that God keeps his promises. Whether He keeps them in the form we expect is not always the case, but we do always receive what we wish for from Him. God is there, and when we have faith in Him, he is there for us. He guides us through our toughest times.

What new things did you take away about yourself from this unit, perhaps from Lectio Divina, the Gratitude class, the meditation, or the movie?
I took away many things from this unit. First, I was able to learn and understand more about prayer, what it is, and how to do it. Also, I learned more complex prayers, but also more simple and easier prayers. Form this unit, I was also able to take away important facts that prove Jesus to be not only a religious figure, but also a historical figure. I was able to learn how to express my gratitude for the things I love and show my thankfulness. Throughout this unit, I learned many things that reflect both my faith, and my gratitude.
