Who is Jesus to me?

  1. Prior to this class, what did you already know about Jesus and where did this information come from?
Prior to this class, I had learned about Jesus since I was baptized as a baby. I have attended Catholic school from kindergarten to eighth grade, and am now continuing into high school. I knew that Jesus was the Son of God. He was both divine and human. Jesus was a man that spread the message of God to His people, bring hope and love to them. Ever since kindergarten, Jesus has been the Christian role model that every Catholic wants to be like. Jesus is both our Savior and our guide to living in a sinful world.

  2. What new insights did you gain about Jesus from this unit? How does this change or confirm what you already thought? Be specific. (Based on presentations and reading)
Coming from a Catholic school where Jesus was talked about often, I thought it might be difficult to learn even more about what Jesus was like, but then I was proven wrong. When studying this unit, thee is much to take away about the life of Jesus. For example, in our text book, it gives different phrases that mean the same thing, but represent different things to different people. Such as Jesus of History was not the divine Christ we praise today, but was the man that was alive, but was miserable obstacle for no Jews. I had a feeling that the people that hated Jesus would come up with names to call him, however I was not expecting the name to still be respectful.

  3. Do you feel that you see Jesus as more of a spiritual figure, a historical figure, and/or both? Why?
I see Jesus as a religious/spiritual figure for a few reasons. For one, Jesus was the Son of God. God is the main source of our hope, love, forgiveness, guidance, and strength. Jesus was a man that was half God and half human. He never sinned and always forgave others. Jesus would calm the needs of others through prayer and stories and acts of kindness rather than historical sessions. Jesus was a miracle worker that brought light to the lives of the meek. Even though Jesus was an actual man recorded through history, I still think of him as a religious, Christian icon and mentor. Jesus is someone in Heaven that you can pray to, and he will listen.

  4. How would you describe your relationship with Jesus?
My relationship with Jesus is strong and continuous. I sometimes pray to Jesus, but more often than not I pray to God. Jesus, I believe, was a very headstrong man hat knew his mission from the second he was born. I admire all of the qualities of Jesus, and someday aspire to mirror most. However, I am not like Jesus. I am a sinner and need forgiveness usuallyon the daily, but like Jesus, I do not let my flaws define me. I believe that Jesus is a role model in my heart. I want to be like Jesus, so he guides me through the toughest times.

This video basically sums up the life of Jesus. I found the same information in the textbook as this video speaks, however, a visual representation might be easier to follow and understand.
